Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Orange, California

The city of Orange is located in Orange County, California. It has a population of over 142,000 as of 2010 and is located 32 miles away from Los Angeles. The pleasant weather and historic houses of the city keep Orange city moving companies busy all year round. Orange is well known as being a major city in Orange County with a small town charm.

Economy:
Like a majority of the cities in the state, Orange has been hit badly by the recession. Local government earnings decreased because sales tax in the area wasn’t as high as it previously was. Property tax revenues didn’t change however and remains solid.

Despite the recession the city is slowly recovering and this is mainly because of the prime location it is in. It has access to five major highways, airports and shipping ports. It has a very strong retail market with its many malls and retail districts. The city also has a very strong automotive market which keeps its local economy afloat.

In order to maintain the bustling economy of the city, the local government has several programs aimed at helping small business increase their revenues. To name a few, the city offers property improvement loans as well as relocation (to old town) loans for small businesses who meet certain qualifications.

History:
The area where the city now stands and those surrounding it used to be inhabited by American Indians.  When the Spanish colonial government took over, the properties were given to Juan Pablo Grijalva. He established a ranch in the area and for a time the lands were held by him and his progeny.

Because of a lawsuit against one of Grijalva’s descendants, the area where the city now stands was given to two lawyers Alfred Beck Chapman and Andrew Glassell. They figured that the properties were a nice location for a town because of its proximity to a river, a road and the richness of the soil. It was Captain Glassell’s, Andrew’s brother that actually laid out the town. He handled the irrigation problems and sold many properties in the area resulting in many families moving to orange city, except it wasn’t orange city yet back then. The name “orange” was said to have come from a poker match where in Chapman, Glassell and two others played for the right to rename the town.

The city was incorporated in 1988 and its first mayor was William Blasdale. Rumors say that the reason for the incorporation of the city was because the community didn’t want a Saloon establishment to open up there.

Tourism:
The city has a lot of things to offer its visitors. If you’re interested in shopping there are a lot of establishments that will more than satisfy your buying cravings like the Blok, The Village, The Plaza and Town & Country. For nature lovers, must see areas include Irvine Park, Irvine Lake, Tucker wildlife sanctuary and William Harding Nature center. But anyone who visits Orange city should never leave without first dropping by The Plaza and Old Towne Orange Historic District. Locals and visitors alike vote this as the best downtown in the County.

Colleges and Universities:
• Chapman University
• Santiago Canyon College
• Argosy University

Interesting Facts:
• The historic district is often used as the background in movies.
• It is the second city with the most old style buildings in the region.
• The naming of the city was decided in a four-man poker game.
