The nearest town to Orem are Provo, Lindon, Vineyard, Pleasant Grove, Cedar Hills, American Fork, Springville and Highland.

Money Magazine published an article stating that Orem is ‘the most liveable community’ in the United States.

The economy of Orem is based on irrigated farming, mostly the cultivation of fruit. Its industrial sector provides jobs for workers in the steel and metal products, computer software and electronic equipment, chemicals and furniture sectors.

History:
Over the period of its history, Orem has had three names. The first was the biblical name Sharon; the second was Provo Bench and finally it became Orem in 1914. The city was originally settled in 1861 and was officially incorporated in 1919.

Tourism:
Oren is well known for the two festivals it hosts each year. One is the Summerfest which is held in June; and the other is the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival.

The freshwater Utah Lake is the predominant recreation area for the residents of Orem, with biking trails, hikes and nature walks around its shoreline to explore the region’s abundant wildlife. It is a paradise for bird watchers, as it is both a stopping point and a breeding area for some 226 species of migratory birds.
