Panama City, Florida

Picture the scene, endless white sandy beaches, emerald green seas and a balmy tropical breeze gently caressing you. Those moving to Panama City will enjoy a very attractive living environment compatible with a number of tastes and lifestyles. Rated highly for its affordable real estate options and the variety of leisure activities – add a number of water sports too and you have good reason to consider relocating to this warm and friendly Florida destination.

History:
Beginning as three 640-acre homesteads in the late 19th century, what was to become Panama City was incorporated in 1908. The town continued to grow during the early-20th century and soon evolved as a popular port on the Gulf. During World War II, shipbuilding developed into a major industry as Panama City was considered strategically safe due to its Gulf location. The city has continued to develop rapidly since then, as more and more Americans opted to buy relatively cheap accommodation in this popular tourist spot. During the 1980s, commerce hit a slump as nearby Panama City Beach began constructing high-rise apartments with stunning Gulf views. The Panama City Commission took stock of this and a revitalization program was launched. This on going redevelopment program has seen city and private sector work together by re-positioning Panama City and its wards as the major tourist attraction in the area.

Economy:
Today, Panama City is the county seat of Bay County. Although tourism is the major local player terms of job creation and contribution to the economy, the State of Florida has recognized its development potential and is working with a long term vision to attract more and more businesses and residents to the area. Current projections suggest that this area of Florida now has a wonderful future thanks to a diverse economic base and a genuine interest in investment in the area. WIth all of these exciting employment opportunities, it's no wonder why so many Panama City moving companies are so busy.

Tourism:
The tourism industry is the major draw card for the Florida Panhandle, the northwest area of the state. As one would expect there are many leisure activities including several water sports to be enjoyed in this tropical paradise. One of the big attractions, Gulf World Marine Park lies over at Panama City Beach, just west of Panama City across Saint Andrew Bay, via excellent highway and transport links. With plenty of golf courses to entice and many fine restaurants too, you will be spoiled for choices when you visit Panama City where you can always be sure of that genuine Southern hospitality.
