The area was inhabited by Americans who came west in search of wealth in the early to mid 1800s. In 1886, Robert Taylor began to develop the area. Taylor hired an engineer named H. C. Kellogg to create a circular boulevard. Grand Boulevard became the center of the city and residents used to ride in their fancy buggies around the circular street that surrounded this area. The city incorporated in 1896. During this time, citrus orchards were beginning to become a major industry in Corona. By 1912, there were 5,000 acres of lemon and orange groves. There were various mining ventures in the area as well. To the north of town, dairy farms were springing up as well. The city has enjoyed steady growth and new industry ever since.
