Inglewood, California

Inglewood, California is a little city situated in the Long Beach metro area of Los Angeles County. With its strategic location, the city is considered as a gateway to the international commercial complex in Los Angeles. Those moving to Inglewood are greeted by handsomely landscaped neighborhoods and a well-developed business-friendly community. Being a popular moving destination, Inglewood is a melting pot of cultures and is home to 115,904 people of different racial origins.

Economy:
Inglewood is easily accessible in different ways from air to land travel, making it a hub for industrial and retail business. It has evolved from being an agricultural area to an industrial metropolis over the years as the city government ventured on business development. Since then, it has earned more than $300 million in office, retail, and industrial projects, giving 4000 jobs to its community. Inglewood still continues to attract businesses by providing the best access by air, road, and rail.

History:
The history of the city of Inglewood started when Ygnacio Machado built the Centinela Adobe in his ranch, Rancho Aguaje de la Centinela in 1834. It was later sold to Daniel Freeman, a Canadian who became the founder of the modern Inglewood. In 1884, the first settlement was carved out from the 25,000 acre ranch and was named Inglewood after a place in Canada. The new settlement consisted only of 300 residents with F.B. Mitchell deployed as the deputy county clerk. In February 8, 1908, the town was declared a city with more than 1000 population and soon people started moving because of the beautiful climate in the area. It became the fastest growing city until the late 1920s when the “Air Age” begun with the conversion of the Andrew Bennett Ranch into Mines Field. Between 1960 and 1970, Inglewood developed into a bustling city that we know today, evolving from an agricultural land to an industrial hub.

Tourism:
Although small, Inglewood has a number of significant landmarks worthy of visiting. There’s the famous, 40 ft-high Randy’s Donut which has been featured in magazines, TV shows and music videos. There are several parks near or within Inglewood; The Hollywood Park with its horse track and casino, the Centinela Springs, Crenshaw Imperial and the Queen Park to name a few. The city is known for its cheap hotel accommodations and ease of access. Shopping and clubbing is also popular amongst young tourists. The local markets offer authentic crafts and flavors along sidewalk cafes and shops. There’s a throng of bars, clubs, restaurants, and theaters to choose from making it a great weekend destination.
