November 7, 2011 - Marc Jacobs co-founder Robert Duffy is moving into a smaller, more modest townhouse in the West Village. He recently sold his three-story home in the West Village for $7.05 million.The home he left behind was well-decorated and walking distance from the Marc Jacobs store and high-end shopping epicenter that reportedly drove up the price of real estate in the area. Business partner Marc Jacobs also recently moved from his Seventh Avenue penthouse.The difference in size is pretty dramatic - the home on Bank Street was around 22 feet wide, while the new place between 5th and 6th Avenue is a slim 13.5 feet wide and has been dubbed one of the city’s skinniest properties, beat by a 9.5-foot-wide townhouse, previously owned by actors Cary Grant and John Barrymore.Duffy’s agent said he preferred the intimacy of the smaller setting, but it wasn’t too much of a downgrade, as the new home still offers 2,700 square feet of living space spread out across four stories and only cost him a slim $5.2 million.Before moving in, sources say Duffy will be making some renovations to further modernize the home.
