San Jacinto residents to receive city assistance with relocation

August 11, 2010 - The southern California town of San Jacinto will help 26 tenants with their relocation to new housing, as the city has purchased their property and will use it for commercial purposes.

The city council voted to purchase the land for $575,000, but set aside extra funds for relocation, reported Riverside’s Press Enterprise.

The current tenants at State Street and Kuhns Drive include 15 adults and 11 children, and they are currently paying anywhere between $350 to $560 in monthly rents.

The relocation plan will assure the families at least 90 days advance notice, pay for moving expenses and provide transition advice, reported the news source.

Most tenants told the city consultants they would like to stay in the San Jacinto area.

The relocations are expected to be completed by December, and the city will reserve the property for industrial or commercial use in the future.

The region has seen its share of relocations lately. The Valley Chronicle reported that the Hilton Hote's reservation call center in the nearby town of Hemet announced it will close in October, forcing the 325 workers to relocate to other Hilton call centers in Texas and Florida.
