Denver home sales up in June
August 13, 2010 - It would appear that more relocating families are finding the Denver metropolitan area a favorable place to move to.
Home sales for the month of June were up 12.8 percent from the previous month and 6.7 percent from one year ago, reported San Diego-based data firm MDA DataQuick. Using public property records, the company was able to track the real estate market in that area, and reported that though there have been recent improvements, June was still a below-average month in terms of home sales. People moved in to 4,881 new homes and condominiums that month, which is about 22.6 percent below average for June and the second lowest total for that month since 1998.
Even so, any form of improvement is welcome, and it would appear that people are buying homes more and paying good money for them. The median home price in June was $217,740, 2.1 percent better than May's $213,000 and 3.6 percent higher than June 2009's $210,000, said the report.
Denver's growing popularity among people who are moving may be because the quality of life there is among the best in the nation, according to a report by Portfolio.com.
