Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Lubbock, Texas

Lubbock, Texas is called the “Giant Side of Texas” for a reason. There are approximately 200,000 people living here – making it the 20th largest city in the U.S. The All-American city is located within the northwestern bounds of the state. Locals have said, it is a big town with a small-town attitude. There are some things you should know about this town if you are considering moving to Lubbock Texas: it is a city of friendly neighbors; there are almost as many churches as there are restaurants; and the schools—especially Texas Tech University—are the region’s driving force. Lubbock, Texas natives have criticized the area’s lack of high-density development, variety of stores and lack of scenery. There is an ongoing debate between those who think the city is fine the way it is, and those who beg to deter, preferring more development and construction for the city.

Economy:
In the city of Lubbock, Texas there was an alliance founded in 1997 to ensure the growth of new business and industry called the Lubbock Economic Development (LEDA). LEDA’s role as an alliance between the City of Lubbock and the Market Lubbock is to create jobs, attract capital investments, retain rooted businesses in the city as well as improve life in general for everyone. Development and encouragement is facilitated through incentives such as the reward of $10,000 for every job created with an annual salary of $25,000 or more.

The two of the largest employers the state of Texas are within the city of Lubbock: Texas Tech University and Covenant Health Systems. Other big industries in the city of Lubbock are cotton-growing regions, AT&T, United Supermarkets and Convergys.

Tourism:
One of the top attractions that Lubbock, Texas has to offer is the Buddy Holly Center that presents music lovers and rock ‘n’ roll fans with the latest and most innovative pop culture exhibits and programs. The Buddy Holly Center hopes to keep the Texas Music scene as influential as it has been. The Center also hopes to pay homage to Lubbock’s “most famous native son” in addition to other artist and musicians that stem from the northwestern city that have included Delbert McClinton, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Richie McDonald and Butch Hancock.

Texans love their way of life and Lubbock residents are no different. Experience a part of the old American Way with the events like the Annual National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration where there will be performances, exhibits, a Dress the West Rodeo, as well as parades and more. Other big town celebrations include the July 4, Independence Day Festival and Lubbock Music Festival, formerly known as the Buddy Holly Music Festival. All of these attractions and more make Lubbock an exciting moving destination.

History:
Lubbock was founded in 1876 by a Texas Ranger. It is now a pleasant city that offers up unique shopping, legendary ranching and many great adventures. The city is surrounded by five major highways, which gives it a hub-like appearance giving way to the nickname “Hub City.” Before short-distance movers and long-distance movers contributed to Lubbock’s population boom, it was an area much more known for its bustling grasslands and roaming buffalo. Lubbock was formed when two towns by the names of “Old Lubbock” and “Monterey” combined to establish a new town of 50 people. Agriculture thrived here with the city’s successful cotton industry, which led to the great increase in population. Schools and colleges expanded in the mid-1920s to include Texas Technological College and Texas Tech University.
