Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Irving, Texas

Irving, Texas is home to the National Headquarters of the Boy Scouts of America. The city boasts more than 75 hotels and a myriad of things to do for visitors and residents alike. From professional sports nearby to high end shopping, Irving has it all. With the busy Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport located there, the city is also super easy to get to. Several different corporations representing a variety of industries have corporate locations in Irving. Moving to Irving is sure to be an exciting more for you and your family.

Economy:
Irving’s unemployment rate is lower than that of the average city in the U.S.  This coupled with the fact that the cost of living is at least 10 percent lower than the national average makes Irving a great place to call home. The city seems to be run by government officials who have Irving’s bottom line in mind. These elected men and women have put measures in place to cut costs while still achieving the city’s goals. They are also working diligently to promote expansion of companies currently located in Irving while also creating financial incentives to lure new companies to Irving. With all of these exciting opportunities, it's no wonder why Irving moving companies are so busy.

Tourism:
Located in downtown Irving is the Heritage District. The area was originally developed by the city's founders in 1903. The current residents of the neighborhood strive to preserve the history while also furthering the districts economic development. Visitors can get a glimpse into Irving’s past when they stroll through the Heritage District. For a completely different atmosphere, you can head to the Mandalay Canal which will evoke feeling of being in Europe with its waterway and cobblestone streets. You can discover the many shops and restaurants Mandalay Canal has to offer. Located nearby is Williams Square where you will find the amazing Mustangs sculpture. This work of art is made up of nine bronze horses who are “galloping” across a sculpted stream. The artist is Robert Glen who is well known for capturing the likenesses of animals.

History:
The city of Irving was founded in the year 1903 by Otis Brown and J.O. “Otto” Schulze.  Irving’s official incorporation date would come on April 14, 11 years later. Otis Brown was chosen as the original mayor. Over the next decades the city began to grow, and with this expansion came many modern conveniences like electricity and indoor plumbing in the 1920s. In the 1930s Irving had its own bus system. The city’s first paid police officer started his post in 1940 and a little more than a decade later, Irving had its first paid fireman.
