Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

Winter Haven, Florida

Winter Haven, Florida is a resort city in Polk County. Geographically, Winter Haven is located on the Atlantic Coastal Plain amid the rolling hills of the Central Florida Highlands. Numerous freshwater lakes within and around the city are connected by canals. Those moving to Winter Haven will discover a city with a tropical climate, hot summers and warm winters.

Economy:
According to statistics released by the US Census Bureau, Winter Haven has a total land area of 17.7 miles. Its population, counted in mid 2009, was 33,345 – a massive 25.9 percent increase since 2000. Winter Haven Hospital, Bartow Memorial Hospital, Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center and Lakeland Regional Medical Center attend to the city’s medical needs, while Winter Haven's Gilbert Airport, Lakeland Linder Regional Airport and Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base provide air connections. There is an Amtrak station in the city.

The main generator of the economy of Winter Haven is the citrus growing industry, which encompasses the processing, packing, marketing and shipping of the fruit. Tourism and the retirement industry also contribute to a great degree.

History:
The area around what is today known as Winter Haven was originally set out in 1884 under the name of Harris Corner, but was renamed Winter Haven a year later. The city was officially incorporated in 1911.

Tourism:
The largest Legoland Park in the world is expected to open in Winter Haven by the end of 2011. Another theme park in the city is Cyprus Gardens, which has a botanical garden, reptiles and birds, hosts a flower festival and puts on water ski spectaculars.

Winter Haven is the worldwide water skiing capital, as well as being a great location for all other types of water sports and fishing.
