Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Hialeah, Florida

Diversity is the backbone of this culturally rich, complex city located just west of Miami at the junction of Interstate 95, I-75 and the Florida Turnpike. More than 90 percent of the residents of Hialeah are Hispanic, and the growth of the city can be traced to the influx of Cuban emigrants who fled communism in the 1960s.  The community is led by a strong mayor and City Council who guide the city’s growth and services.  Hialeah’s location adjacent to Miami provides shopping, sports and nightlife while still keeping a strong sense of community for its residents that exists apart from its more cosmopolitan sister city. The diverse population and welcoming neighborhoods are just a few reasons why people are moving to Hialeah.

Economy:
Hialeah is home to a vibrant community of mom and pop stores such as Navarro and Sedano’s, which actively and successfully compete against national name brand retailers, outfitters and franchises like Starbucks and Walmart. In order to remain competitive, national businesses have altered their traditional business strategy to meet the demands of the local Hialeah community. Publix supermarkets opened a Publix Sabor along one of Hialeah’s main streets which caters exclusively to Latin American and Hispanic clientele. Although many of the manufacturing and cloth facilities that made Hialeah an industrial city from the 1970s to the 1980s have disappeared, new electronics and technology businesses have reinvigorated the local economy.

History:
The name Hialeah, means "High Prairie" in Seminole. The area was developed by pioneer aviator Glenn Curtiss and Missouri cattleman James H. Bright who saw great potential in 1921 for an elite society. In the 1920s, Hialeah produced significant entertainment contributions. Residents attended sporting events such as the Spanish sport of jai-alai and greyhound racing. This city was the location for several films including silent movies like D.W. Griffith’s "The White Rose," which was made at the Miami Movie Studios located in downtown Hialeah. In the years since its incorporation in 1925, many historical events and people have been associated with Hialeah. The opening of the Hialeah Park race track in 1925, which was nicknamed the "Grand Dame," received more coverage in the Miami media than any other sporting event in the history of Miami up to that time.

Tourism:
Hialeah Park is the home of the Audubon Bird Sanctuary for flamingos, a trademark of the city, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. On the grounds of this park, one of the oldest, continuously operating racetracks in Florida, are landscaped gardens and historic buildings. The Virginia Gardens are expansive and are home to more than 200 species of flowers and bushes. Visitors can stroll along the numerous paths or dip their feet in the streams and creeks. It is a great way to escape the bustle of the city. Those who are looking for a reserved community located next to an active city will find Hialeah moving companies helpful for relocating.
