Bad Movers
Goldstar Van Lines moved a tiny one bedroom worth of belongings for me. The weight, by their own admission, was well below the initial estimated minimum of 2000 lbs. However, they found a number of bogus ways to charge me almost $500 more than the original estimate. They used packing material to pack the belongings I had already packed, without my authorization, and charged me for them. Also, even though their original delivery estimate was between 5-7 business days, and I took delivery in 4 business days, they charged me $200 extra for "Storage and Handling". I tried to take them to small claims court, but they know how to avoid getting served with the lawsuit...so I have not been successful in getting them to court. I advise anyone looking for a good moving company not to use them, under any circumstances. With a low estimate, they use the "bait and switch" tactic to get you signed up. They treat you so nicely upfront until they've got you and once they have your belongings in their possession, they show their true colors. I will be reporting them to the BBB, in the hope that I could cause them a lot more damage than if they had refunded my $500.
