Moving
The estimator had underestimated the amount of things to be moved. I was told that they would provide packing materials for my clothing, but they arrived with none and had to have some delivered. Toward the end of the unloading, some of the men were tired (understandably, as they had done another job before coming with my things) and placed boxes on the wrong floor, causing me to carry heavy boxes to the proper place to be unpacked. However, the
movers were courteous and helpful. The driver who was supervising the loading and unloading the truck could have given better directions as to the placement since the boxes were clearly marked.

Response from Joyce Van Lines - Connecticut
Thank-you for taking the time to post your comment relating to your recent move with us. It is good to see that you had no damage on your move. All of our crews are motivated not to have damage and yours was no different. It is our goal, first and foremost, to handle your belongings without damage. It the remarks section on your order, which you signed, it was noted that - "This is high end furniture/mover to pack misc china, crystal and misc frames - owner to pack the balance. There was never any mention of your mover needing to pack the clothes, or anything else other than what was described on the day of the estimate. Your packing needs changed on move day and those needs were accomodated, without issue. Your estimated container cost, as described on the day of the estimate was for $157.50, your final bill for container cost was $540.10. The additional packing led to additional labor hours. In regard to the placement of cartons, there were six men on your job, all necessary due to your high end furniture. Sometimes it can be difficult for A. the customer to stay with everyone all at the same time and B. your crew to be able to read and understand all cartons that have been labeled by the owner. Your estimator has 25 years experience and his estimating accuracy is as good as the informtion that is supplied to him on the day of the estimate versus actual needs on move day. We wish you well in your new home.
