Bad Services

I would not recommend that you use Overnight VanLines. Here is everything that they lied about: In my initial quote I was given an estimate of $980 for 1,400 pounds. This price was to move my stuff (less than a one-bedroom apartment full) from San Diego, CA to New York, NY. A Manhattan zip code was provided to them to get the estimate. I was also told my stuff would be shipped out on Saturday, April 24 and would take six-10 days to arrive. They did come to pickup my things on Saturday April 24th. At the time of pickup they estimated I had about 900 - 1000 pounds and would be well under my estimate. Everything seemed fine. Then the problems began. On Tuesday April 27th, they called me and said my stuff weighed over 1,900 pounds and that there are now extra charges for each pound (at a higher rate than I was quoted) plus additional fuel surcharges and other charges. They were then charging me $1,585 instead of $980. If it had been a couple of hundred extra, I wouldn't even have cared, but this was more than a 50 percent increase. On top of the price increase, my stuff still hadn't left. It was just sitting there despite being told it was being sent on April 24th. I sent them additional money overnight to make sure my stuff would be sent as soon as possible. My things still were not sent until the following Saturday, May 1st. Then on top of charging me $600 extra dollars and sending my stuff off a week later than promised, they then told me they could not deliver my stuff into Manhattan. Despite my original quote being for delivery to Manhattan, they told me I would have to pay an extra $250 - $350 for delivery into Manhattan. I ended up renting a truck and getting picking my stuff in New Jersey by myself. So, finally after paying all of the extra money and having to pick up my stuff by myself (so it was not delivered or carried into my apartment), many of my things were damaged. I have a wood platform bed frame that was heavily damaged. A large framed mirror which they supposedly "wrapped" was broken. The handles on the drawers of my entertainment center were broken off and/or bent and then of course there were the usual nicks and scratches which I expected. To date, I have not heard back from the company regarding my damage claims.

We have yet to receive our goods and the price jump was absolutely ridiculous. They have no idea what's going on, ever. They change their stories constantly and then refuse to call you back. We picked...
