The good, bad and the ugly
The initial bid process and coordination was excellent. I was off on the amount of stuff that I was moving - that is the reason for the higher cost. If I had been more accurate with the amount of stuff the estimate I received would have been closer to actual price. No matter, there I was expecting that I was off. Movers showed up on time and did an excellent job of packing and protecting my antique furniture. The only mishap was the fact that they dragged some bookcases over the Pergo floor that scratched the protective clear polycarbonate coating from the surface of the flooring. As a result, the floor is ruined and will have to be replaced. There was no reason for this to happen-as they could have put them on a dolly or slide them by putting a pad underneath the bookcases. I was really disappointed because this was just pure laziness or stupidity – the company should have known better and this was uncalled for. Now, the hassle begins of working with claims adjusters (the moving company has not contacted me yet -- two weeks later) and dealing with my homeowners insurance, making a claim, flooring contractor, etc. If this didn’t happen, I would have given this company high marks. As it stands they were very accommodating in meeting my needs, but very unresponsive when it came to dealing with this floor issue and following-up. Beware the devil is always in the details and watch the movers like a hawk - they need constant supervision because they will do whatever to get things moved even if it means damaging your property.
