Stressful Move
The pickup was fine; problems didn't arise until delivery in New York. Both the driver and American Van Lines advised that my goods would be delivered on Friday, March 6.
I waited and waited all day, but the driver didn't show. I tried calling him on his cell phone several times, and left messages, but he never called back. I also called American Van Lines' main office and they tried to convince me that he was on his way, but finally, around 5 p.m., they said they were unable to get a hold of the driver and most likely he wouldn't be showing up that day.
I can't begin to tell you how extremely upset I was -- I wasted a whole day waiting for the movers to show up, and had no idea where my belongings were, or if I'd ever receive them. I called American Van Lines again on Saturday -- they said they'd try to get another driver to deliver my stuff on Monday, March 9, but couldn't guarantee anything. Finally, on Monday, March 9, the delivery was completed by 2 drivers from United Van Lines.
They were kind and courteous. Unfortunately, my 2 bookcases were missing. I have since been notified by American that my bookcases are on the original driver's truck (now back in Florida) and I won't be receiving them until he returns to NY (whenever that is!) It was a very stressful, aggravating move.
