BR Movers
This company gave me an estimate of 3 hours, 3 men, and 1 hour travel time @80 with a 10% discount for a total move cost of $288. They gave me an estimate that said blankets were at no cost unless they were used for storage - yet the mover charged me $6.00 per blanket to use them - @33 blankets that came out to $198.
They told me that wrapping was included in the labor and that all I would have to pay for was the material. Yet they charged me $15 per item wrapped for a total of $15 X 33 $495. They wrapped every single item they moved in a blanket @$6 plus $15 for the shrink wrap. I had signed a materials charge sheet that indicated $15 per item for shrink wrap which I thought meant per roll - so technically they had me. They have many hidden costs.
When I tried to reason with the company they told me the person who had given me the estimate no longer worked there and the man I spoke to was rude. The driver finally gave me a 10% discount on the materials but refused to delete the unnecessary charges. When I wanted to use American Express to pay the difference in between the cash I had and the total cost, they would not accept the card even though they advertised they accepted that card on their web site and they had taken it to confirm my appointment. They accepted my Visa card and processed it for payment and it was approved.
Then the driver said I had to sign a document waiving my right to work through the credit card company for any disputed charges and when I said I would not sign my rights away he said he would reload my furniture and cart it away. He also wanted to record my driver's licence number on the charge slip and when I said he could look at it to verify my identify but could not record it because I was concerned about identify theft, he again said he would reload and cart my furniture away. The only way I finally got him to complete the delivery was to go to the ATM and get additional cash to pay him.
