I think they should ask in more detail about the items that are to be moved. They quote the minimum and when they arrive to pack they told me that all my stuff was "oversized" therefore the cubic feet were much more. Obviously my budget was exceeded by 50%. I was not happy at all.

Response from Ocean Moving & Storage

The way we quote our customers is by going over an inventory list over the phone. We give our customers a binding guaranteed quote based on that inventory. All our sales representatives are trained to ask the customer as many questions and make sure that the list is accurate.

Mrs. Jimenez decided to reserve her move with Ocean moving and Storage. She signed the Order for Service that was emailed to her with the inventory list on it. Once a customer signs the Order for Service, it means that they have read and understood the terms and conditions of the quote, where it specifically states: "... You are guaranteed this price based on the inventory. Your price is subject to increase if inventory is increased at time of pick up due to additional space taken up in the truck..."

The customer should have given us an accurate list. Had she given us an accurate inventory list, her quote would not change. We are obligated to maintain the quote as long as the information provided to us is accurate. The customer had more boxes and more pieces of furniture. Because of the extra space she took on the truck, we had to charge her extra. As for Mrs. Jimenez's damages, we were never notified about them, and therefore we couldn't help her with this issue. Mrs. Jimenez can feel free to contact our claims department and file a claim for her damages. We will provide her with a basic valuation protection of $0.60 per pound per article. The number for the claims department is 954-986-3699. Their email is info@CSIPros.org.
