Terrible Move
This was a life lesson that I will never forget. This
moving company had quoted me at three men for three hours at $70/hr for a small one-bedroom apartment. I had even sold my couch set so there was even less to move than ever. The scheduled move time was three to four in the afternoon. They showed up at 7:45pm. No call, no nothing to let me know they were running late. When they arrived, the foreman directed me to sign my life away prior to them moving anything. As they were three hours late - not to mention homeless and grumpy, I gladly signed everything and said put a haul on it. Little did I know what I was signing. They forgot a wardrobe so I was forced to move my clothing at a separate date. After removing all my items, they followed me to my new location an hour away. At which point we arrive at our destination and sit there for 15 to 20 minutes as the foreman said he needs to finalize my bill. Comes back with one page of loose leaf notebook paper and casually explains the cost is $837. Oh, and if I wish to not pay, they're going to take my stuff to a storage company in Paterson, NJ, then charge me $25/day while it sits there until I decide to pay. Just $627 more than the quote. I should have known to never move anything without a confirmed quote beforehand. The cardboard boxes they wrapped my HD tv in? $230. 8 separate stairs? $150. Travel time back to their office an hour away? $140. Worse part of the whole thing - had I done my research like I normally do and googled the company who sent me the quote, I would have never even seen the terrible reviews.
