Not a Good Move
I was initially quoted $210 for materials, disassembly/assembly, three men, three hours, truck, gas, etc. The day before the move, an insurance guy (that was supposed to meet me at my place to have me sign papers), calls and says he can't make it at 6 p.m., so he comes to my job and has me sign on the hood of his car in 90 degree weather. Obviously, this was no place to read the documents carefully. The
movers get to my condo and load our belongings very professionally, however, they decide to use more tape and boxes than I had used to package and then charged me for it. Upon arrival to the storage unit - before unloading - they hand me a bill for $665 -- three times the amount I was quoted. They added almost $200 for packing supplies that I did not ask for, $5 for each of the 15 blankets, $150 for stairs they never mentioned in the quote and then I had to pay for the 1.5 hour drive back to their office. Meanwhile, they had an office five miles from me which they never mentioned. Then, after negotiating with the manager over the phone, they dropped it to $600. But, before finishing the move, the guys "couldn't locate" the bill with the reduced price, until my father-in-law realized he stuck it in his pocket. You should have seen the looks on their faces when he told them he saw him put it in is pocket. Overall, this was a very bad experience, but partly my fault for not doing my homework.
