Dimension Review

The movers used various products during the move that added money to my bill, yet the use of these products were never approved by me. That doubled the price of my move. We were told the price of our move was based off of the total weight of the truck and our belongings, yet the movers never weighed the truck. They estimated the weight of our property by using cubic feet.

We have filed a complaint with the moving company requesting a refund, but have yet to get a response from this company. I would not recommend this company. We would have been better off making the move ourselves.

Response from Dimension Moving & Storage, Inc.

Based on the information we received from the customer, our moving consultant quoted 8000 lbs, $2688.00 (including 5% fuel surcharge) for his move, and the customer would do all the packing by himself.

On the moving date, 2/2/009, when our foreman arrived at the customer’s pickup place, the foreman walked through the customer’s place and noticed some of the packing was incomplete or not professional enough. Therefore, the foreman gave the customer a Revised Written Estimate, which was also requested by United States Department Of Transportation.

The Revised Written Estimate is a BINDING ESTIMATE, which means the price on it is fixed no matter there were more or less on the total weight. This was explained to the customer by the foreman and the customer signed on the Revised Written Estimate document with the BINDING ESTIMATE.

However, we DID weigh the job and the total weight was 8480 lbs, but we only charged 8000 lbs because that is the signed BINDING ESTIMATE. This revised estimation is 8000 lbs, 5% fuel surcharge, $1991.00 on packing material and 5% Origin Destination Fee. Total is $4912.00.

The customer signed on this document and initialed on each quote. We’ve also given a copy of the Packing Material Form to the customer, which listed all the details of the packing materials that had been used. Regarding the damages, we informed the customer about our claim agency contact information as soon as we learned there were damages. Customer should contact our claim agency regarding any damages.
