The Bad Move
I have moved numerous times, but this is the first time I used a moving company to move me interstate. This was the biggest rip-off I have ever experienced. The quote I received of $925 became $2,200 - this amount didn't include the furniture I had to leave behind because I couldn't afford to get them on the truck (furniture which was included in the original quote). I was never told that they never accepted credit cards. I was never told that every single itsy bitsy piece of my belongings had to be bubble wrapped - I paid almost $350 for bubble wrap and tape. I was put in a bad situation because I had to leave that evening to make the car trip to my destination - I had a friend flying in that day to drive me as I cannot drive due to a medical condition. I didn't have a choice - cancelling would have cost $500 (which I was never told upfront); I was on a very tight schedule and deviating seemed to cause more problems....so stupid me just let it happen. They were over a week late arriving with my possessions – which were also soaking wet. My mattress was completely ruined. They told me to just put it out in the sun - I have asthma so this isn't an option and I shouldn’t have had to put my mattress on the lawn to dry because it shouldn’t have been wet in the first place. The boxes were soaked, my suitcase with my clothes were soaking wet. This entire experience was a complete nightmare. I plan on filing complaints with every available department with the State of Florida.
