Move Done- I like movers, but the company practices..not so much.
I did not submit a claim to damage done to the walls in my newly painted home. Again, I liked the movers attitude and efficiency. Overall, I was originally quoted for three movers at $70/an hour; however they sent two movers and gave me a "discount" at $65/an hour. The person on the phone, (not the nice lady I originally spoke with to make my reservation) made it seem as if I should be happy to be sent less help at a five dollar discount because $70 is already discounted. There were indications that the estimate they gave me included said discount, so I assumed if $70 dollars/an hour gets me three men, then two men should be $55 max. Nevertheless, I was in a bind and needed to be out of my apartment, but under any other circumstances I would have sent the movers on (who happened to be very nice and another reason why I went forward with this). I ended up helping take apart my bed, something that if we had three men would not have been needed to be done. I’ve moved three other times prior to this and never had less than three movers and there were no apologies or anything for it. Simply, take your five dollar discount and that’s it. Under any other circumstances I would have happily forfeited my $100 dollar deposit or took the issue up with my credit card company and canceled my appointment. But again, I needed to be out that day. Also, there are 20 other relocations on my job and I sent all of those people to my other moving company, who I couldn’t book because of the short notice, so for me that was enough. Again, the movers were polite, but I will never refer anyone to a company that’s rude to its customers and doesn’t disclose its prices, nor treats its customer when they fall short of the agreement.
