San Jose to Reno

First, the handling of the packing was not great. Stuff was tossed alot. But most importantly was the new info that simple small boxes would cost $25 for materials, plus $20 for labor, plus tax.

We packed 54 boxes ourselves prior to the move. We got a quote on the piano of $180 prior as well. So I figured the remaining odds and ends would be about $20 per box max in relation to the piano, which took 3 guys 45 minutes to wrap pack and load. When the foreman told me that the 17 boxes would cost over $950, I was outraged. So I had no choice but to agree to a $2500 price vice the $1364 quoted.

The estimator provided no info on the outrageous cost per small box. Part of the $950 added quote was $90 for tape alone. I know there is no way 17 boxes used $90 of tape. But I had no recourse at this late time in the move. I must say that the two guys who unloaded were very courteous and did a fine job, but the foreman at the loading end was not someone I would put in front of customers.

I will not do business with Ori on my next move. And I will get a fixed quote. I will be filing a damage claim when all is unpacked. My new mattress has a large rip down half of the bottom. I have damaged speaker stands (part of the $950 added cost) due to poor packing, and myriad other nicks and such. I am taking photos and will be looking for every nick on things I might have let go if not for the poor customer service and lack of communication that would almost double the original estimate.
