The move experience itself was good, so I gave it high grades. The problems were with the cost and the communication.
The salesman told me that I would receive a discount if I paid in cash, but upon completion he told me that only local moves get a discount and that he would not have said that. Obviously, why would I have asked if he had not?
There were several damaged items...not significant...and too many different workers touch the stuff as they load, put it in storage awaiting a larger truck, move it onto the large truck and then drive it to other pick ups until they get to me. I had to wait about 20 minutes while they moved another family's belongings in order to get to mine.
My belongings were in a storage unit. I gave the salesman the exact size of the unit, so there was really no excuse for his measurements to be off. He told me that other companies 'always' end up charging more, but not American Vanlines East.
