Zero Communication
We had many issues with our move. Our
movers indicated that we should have received a lot of information prior to our move; however we received none. The movers indicated this was due to a personal issue of our move coordinator. The original estimate for our move was $3,081.60 based on 8,000 pounds of items being moved. We were told prior to the move it was based on pounds and for a four-bedroom homea move would be 8,000 to 16,000 pounds. We asked if 16,000 was the upper end and requested someone give a quote on-site but we were assured that they never see moves over16,000 pounds. We adjusted the estimate to 12,000 pounds to allow for overage. We were not aware there was an option to accompany the driver to the weigh station and by the time we were told we could not follow them hundred of miles to witness the weigh in. The actual pounds we were told ended up being 23,240 pounds! They said they had never seen a four-bedroom this large and again stated 16,000 pounds was in the upper range. Additionally, there was extra fuel surcharge based on this erroneous pounds. Our next issue was a $1520.00 charge for packing materials. Again, it was expressed that our coordinator was to have told us about the charges for packing materials such as bubble wrap and tape. However, we were never provided with a list of costs for these materials until after the items had been packed and loaded. Only then were we provided a list of charges including that bubble wrap was $299.00 a roll. These rolls sell for $22. Additionally, were not told of bulky item charges which resulted in an extra $300 for 3 large items. The communication issues from our coordinator continued when we reached California. We were never told our items would be unloaded into storage. We had to call our coordinator to find out where our items were and were told they couldn’t be delivered. We were unable to work out a delivery date and had to leave our belongings in storage. We will also have to hire someone else to move it from the storage facility.
