Former home of baseball legend Babe Ruth listed for sale

May 9, 2012 - New outlets report that the former home of Babe Ruth has been listed for sale. The home is located in the Boston-area suburb of Sudbury and is ready for movers with an asking price of $1.65 million.

The baseball legend previously held the major league record for the most home runs, and began his career with the Boston Red Sox back in 1914 before playing for both the New York Yankees and the Braves to close out his career. He reportedly lived in the home between 1922 and 1926 while on the Yankees roster.

The estate sits on two acres of land and is believed to have been built in the 1800s but underwent a number of renovations in the 1920s. With 5,124 square feet of living space, the house offers five bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms as well as a 5,000-square-foot barn with stables, an office and a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with its own full kitchen.

Baseball fans may be calling for moving services as the home reportedly still shows signs of Ruth's presence with burn marks believed to be from his cigar ashes. No word, however, about whether it is cursed.
