Big suprise(s)
They performed well with the actual move, but not as good on the price.
The movers called twice in advance to make sure we knew they would be arriving at 10 am the day of the move. At 7 am that day we got a call that they would be there in 20 minutes. When I said I still had two hours of packing to do, they just laughed.
The estimator gave me an hourly estimate for labor and the truck, etc. There was not a mention of charges for packing materials at all. The day of the move, the head mover had me sign a bunch of forms. I did so without much reading ( my fault ).
The movers then wrapped all of my furniture in black plastic they had brought, and used ~20 moving blankets and ~12 rolls of moving tape. At the end of the move I was charged a rental fee of $6 per blanket, and $380 in packing materials (no boxes, just plastic wrap and tape). The mark-up on these materials is ridiculous.
As well I had bought a 12-pack of tape and had my own 3' plastic wrap they could have used. They never mentioned they were charging me for any of this. As movers and protectors of my goods, I give them an A+. But low marks on business practices.
