Worst Move of my Life
I felt as though a "bait and switch" was pulled on me. I tried to communicate with the moving company before, during and after the move, however before the move; they knew better than me what needed to take place, even though I said they should send a packer the day before. I got a crew of 4 guys on moving day. There was one guy that knew how to pack, and the items he packed turned out just fine. When they moved upstairs and I was packing the basement and garage all kinds of stuff must have happened and most of my lamps are broken, all of the shades crushed and after a week I still cannot find where they put the mirror supports for the dresser. The whole thing was ridiculous. I had a "binding" estimate of $3,321 but once they had my belongings in the truck it changed to $5,563. I had to go and find a fax in my new location and sign a paper that I would not dispute the higher charge or my stuff could not be picked up at their storage facility in Georgia and brought to my new home in North Carolina. Being in the military, we move all the time, this was my fourth move in 26 months (the military did not pay for this one, they won't use this company) and I have to say this was appalling. On the good side of things the sub-contractor they used to deliver my stuff did a very good job of keeping in touch with me and delivering, even though it took till midnight.
