Mr. Move
We contracted Mr. Move and were quoted $138 per hour for a 3 man crew on a Sunday. We moved it up to the Thursday before and changed to a 4 man crew @ $158 per hour. The saleslady, Victoria, (who claimed she owned the company) estimated it should take 4 hours to load and 2 hours to unload with a 3 man crew. I bumped it to 4 men thinking that it would go faster. I asked for packing services also.
I figured with the packing, the time would double. They said that they clock out on breaks and prorate the final hour. The day before they showed up, I called Victoria to ask what forms of payment they accept. She said personal check is the easiest. Anyway, they loaded everything on 2 trucks, which took 12 hours and drove to Baton Rouge - 2 1/2 hours (a 1 hr drive).
Once they arrived, the driver asked me what form of payment I was going to use and I told them personal check. They asked me what bank I used and I told them Baton Rouge Telco Federal Credit Union. They told me I had a big problem because they could not authorize a credit union check with Telecheck. I am a Telecheck merchant and I know this to be untrue. They said they wanted cash only before they unload the truck or they would shut down the move and drive my things back to their warehouse. They put me on the phone with Woody McDuffey - the real owner - and he was not nice.
He said I should have read the contract before I signed it. We argued back and forth for a while while the crew slept in the truck for a couple of hours on the clock. Long story short, after I called the police, they agreed to accept a credit card for the charges, which they still have not given me a breakdown of. Also, they would not show me any paperwork or contracts that they claim I signed.
The only thing I signed was the liabilty insurance disclaimer and the start time. The driver then insisted I sign the contract stating that I agreed to cash only and that I would not challenge the charges to the credit card before they would unload the truck even though the bill was paid.
When they unloaded the trucks, they were very careless. They destroyed a long list of furniture and tore up the house I am renting. They gouged the doorframes and walls to the point paint was removed. Now they claim I owe them additional money.
