American Van Lines Review
Up front contact and personal assistance by the agents at American Van Lines (AVL) was very good. It was the reason I selected AVL. However, when the
movers arrived, they were subcontractors with a Ryder lease truck. They were one day late - they did let us know and kept us informed - but ended up packing out on a Sunday morning. We were informed by the movers that we needed cash or a postal money order upon delivery. This was very inconvenient, since I paid the deposit by credit card and I assumed the balance would be charged as well. This was impossible for a weekend delivery and I never recall being told that during the move preparations. We were then told at the deliver site that a bank check was ok, but the movers would not accept it. Thus, we had to go back to the bank and then to the post office. Additionally, we also incurred some damages. This damage was obviously noticable by the movers, but was not brought to our attention when the furniture was unwrapped. No one from AVL ever personnally followed up on the move. I would not recommend AVL for a move.
