Free U-Haul storage for Arkansas residents
June 2, 2010 - People considering relocation to Arkansas should know that a new law bans residents from parking their boat, car, or RV on their lawns.
It went into effect on June 1, and in response to it, U-Haul is offering consumers 30 days of free rental to store their boats, cars, or RVs. Ken Vadnais, president of U-Haul Company of Arkansas, said that the company "is on your side when it comes to this new law about not being able to store your car, boat, or RV on your grass. We are offering you the opportunity to receive 30 days free storage by entering into a rental agreement to pay for at least one month of inside or outside car, boat or RV storage."
The law passed in 2009 after many years of residents complaining about neighbors parking their cars, boats, or RVs on lawns, Jonesboro, Arkansas ABC news affiliate KAIT reported. Front and side yards - not back yards - are included in the ban. The only exception will be made during the Arkansas State Fair, Arkansas football games, and for large parties.
Consumers can also store their boats on marina slips. For RVs, some homeowners construct specially sized garages on their property to park them.
