Plastics producer will bring new jobs to Kentucky

July 15, 2010 - State officials praised the relocation of an industry-leading plastics company to Kentucky.

Legacy Plastics will leave Evansville, Indiana and move its manufacturing facility to Henderson, Kentucky. The move, when combined with the pending expansion of two other local companies, will provide a boost to the region's job market, said Governor Steve Beshear.

"The location of Legacy Plastics and the expansion of Matrix Composites and Sunrise Tool and Die reflect the hard work of Henderson County officials and demonstrate the confidence these companies have in the area’s workforce. Kentucky looks forward to a long and successful partnership with each of these exceptional companies," he said.

Legacy, which produces parts that are used in General Electric refrigerators and display materials, bought a 25,000-square-foot building at 1116 5th Street in Henderson. The move was necessary to accommodate the company's rapid growth, said Legacy officials.

If any of the company's employees decide to make the short move from Evansville to Henderson, they could probably do so by themselves. A self-move could save them money on relocation costs.
