Colorado county experiences increasing home sales

July 29, 2010 - A report could indicate that Summit County, Colorado is becoming a popular destination for people who are moving.

From January through May, home sales in that county rose 20 percent compared to the first five months of 2009, reported Land Title Guarantee Company, based in Breckenridge. The county is popular among skiers, and many homes in the area sell for lofty prices - one for a record $8.29 million last year, said the company.

"Summit County real estate has fared the economic crisis much better than other regions nationwide," said local real estate agent Natasha Bassova. "We're poised for a strong recovery, and we're already beginning to see Summit County home sales pick up."

In-town sales in Breckenridge have increased when compared to last year but haven't reached the heights seen back in 2007, said the company.

Summit County's rising profile is another notch in the belt for the state of Colorado, which is becoming a more intriguing option for someone considering relocation. This year, Fort Collins, located in Larimer County, was ranked as the sixth best city to live in by CNN Money Magazine.
