Realtors can give homebuyers greater access to listings

February 22, 2010 - As today's real estate market is ridden with incentives, tax credits and deals on foreclosures, prospective homebuyers may want to consider hiring a real estate agent who can help them avoid unfavorable programs and find the best deals.

Realtors may have access to information that buyers cannot find through listing websites or housing brochures, including the amount of time a home as been on the market and its price per square foot, the Regina Leader-Post reports.

Real estate professionals may also be able to the help during the negotiation process. Their established relationships with home sellers and landlords could benefit clients, as realtors may be able to use the knowledge they have gained from past negotiations to talk down asking prices or ask for additional amenities.

Lane Boghean, president elect of the Association of Regina Realtors in Regina, Saskatchewan, told the news source that these individuals can also "direct clients to professionals who have the expertise to provide them with good information in more specialized areas" when they come across an issue they cannot solve.

Realtors may be able to help their clients take advantage of the Federal Housing Tax Credit, which could be worth up to $8,000 for first-time real estate owners, according to the National Association of Homebuilders.
