Tips for prepping to move cross-country

October 3, 2012 - When relocating across the country, those moving may need to take some extra steps for a more successful relocation. While having the proper amount of moving boxes and other supplies is important, having a more complete plan is crucial.

Any move can be a big move, but when going across the country or any other long distance, planning ahead and early is necessary. Experts in the industry recommend starting two to three months before the planned moving date. This may prove helpful for people who want to host a yard sale to eliminate some of their stuff.

Hiring professional moving services can be a better way to ensure belongings get to the new location safely. This also provides those moving with less stress, so they can put focus on other things, such as comfortably transitioning to a new place.

Before making the big move, those relocating should complete thorough research on the place they will be calling home. In some cases, moving a city over can provide lower home prices, while a neighboring suburb outside of a city may also be safer.
