Adam Carolla will sell renovated home
July 14, 2010 - A prominent comedian and radio host is moving from his Hollywood home.
Adam Carolla became a first-time homebuyer when he purchased a three-bedroom, 2,281-square-foot home in 1996 for just $350,000. The comedian has a background in contracting, and made more than $350,000 in improvements to the home himself, he told AOL Real Estate.
He said he overbuilt the home, which was a dilapidated "dump" when he bought it. Putting on a new roof, a new ceiling, and making the home earthquake-proof raised its value significantly, said the report. Carolla has listed the home for $1.3 million, advertising it as ideal for someone without children.
Any bachelor who may be interested in moving in would find it equipped with a designer kitchen, state-of-the-art entertainment center, and recently-installed central air conditioning and heating. Sitting in the patio's hot tub, an owner would enjoy a view of the entire city, including the Hollywood sign, said the report. Carolla told the website that the home is now higher in value than many new properties nearby.
Home improvements are considered a smart way to raise the value on a home and increase the listing price when an owner decides to move.
