Richard Garriott is selling in Austin
October 28, 2011 - Phantasy video game godfather Richard Garriott is ready for the moving company in Austin, Texas, where he is offering his custom designed manor to homebuyers for $4.1 million, the Zillow Blog reports.
Garriott is the British-born son of a NASA astronaut who began developing adventure-style video games at the age of 17. The tech-inclined Garriott, who is the seventh private citizen to venture into outer space, is the mastermind behind Ultima Online, among other endeavors, according to RichardGarriott.com.
Dubbed Britannia Manor II, and designed to resemble its namesake and original which is located near Garriott’s childhood home in New Hampshire, the manor has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, trapdoors, hidden passageways and odd artifacts, the Zillow Blog explains. The home also includes a conservatory with a retractable roof where homeowners can stargaze after moving day, according to MTV.
Garriott has already packed the moving truck in anticipation of the completion of Britannia Manor III, which is said to contain underground swimming pools and a host of fun-house style features, and as such, potential homebuyers may be invited to tour an open house that may resemble a haunted house, just in time for Halloween, the Zillow Blog reports.
