Former CA home of comedian Phyllis Diller up for sale

September 28, 2012 - Celebrity news sites report the longtime estate of the late Phyllis Diller is ready for buyers, as it has appeared on the market with a $12.9 million asking price. She purchased the home back in 1965 for an undisclosed price, and began to personalize it with pricey artwork and design from the floors to the ceiling.

The property was built in 1914 and sits on 1.25 acres of land. With 9,266 square feet of living space, the estate offers eight bedrooms and five bathrooms, along with a piano room and a series of other rooms that were given corky names throughout her time there. One room was dedicated to her many costumes and wigs, while others were themed by color.

Photos of the home shown on its official listing showcase an elaborate and elegant design, with stained glass windows, antique furniture and large area rugs that cover dated but maintained hardwood floors throughout. Those looking to start moving boxes into the Brentwood estate can also buy the decor and some of Diller's personal items at an auction, set to be held before the end of the year.
