New high speed internet service launched in Central California

November 2, 2010 - Good news for those living in Central California area: Comcast will now be offering its latest internet service in the region.

Comcast has launched its next generation DOCSIS 3.0 internet service. This new technology will replace broadband internet with wideband, allowing for faster internet speeds.

DOCSIS 3.0 will have new speed tiers including Extreme 50, which has download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, Ultra, with download speeds of 22 Mbps. Existing Performance tier customers will see existing download speeds increased to 12 Mbps.

Steve White, Senior Vice President of Comcast's California Region, said, "With this next generation of service, our customers' online experience is dramatically enhanced. Wideband, combined with our fiber-optic network, gives us the capability of meeting the needs of our customers for many years to come by offering even faster speeds in the future."

Earlier this year, Comcast launched wideband in San Francisco Bay and Monterey-Salinas areas. Now service will be extended to 83 additional towns and communities in Central California and North Santa Barbara.

For those looking to start the relocation process, it may be a good idea to research the prices and availability of internet service providers in the area in advance of your move to insure that contact with the virtual world won't be interrupted.
