Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Casper, Wyoming

The city of Casper is Wyoming’s second largest city and is the County Seat of Natrona County. Nicknamed “The Oil City,” Casper has over many decades benefited immensely from the discovery of rich oil fields in the area. Those moving to Casper will discover a city famous for its flamboyant cowboy culture from past years that survives through to the present day.

History:
Starting out as Fort Caspar, which was established to protect the mass migration of land seekers in the middle 19th century, the base also offered ferry transport across the North Platte River. In 1859 a bridge was commissioned and with better communications the government posted a military garrison to protect the telegraph and mail services. In 1865, Lieutenant Caspar Collins was killed by Indian warriors near the post and a few months later his first name was bestowed upon the town. A few years later Fort Caspar was abandoned when it was no longer considered to have strategic value. The town of Casper was founded by developers some time later as they keenly anticipated a major watering and coaling point for the expanding Wyoming Central Railway. And so Casper outstripped the other developing towns of Bessemer and Douglas and was soon well on its way to important-city status. In the 1870s, oil prospecting began in the area and the first drilling started in 1888 about three miles northwest of Casper. The Salt Creek Field began production in 1889 and Casper soon had its own refinery. With the discovery of natural gas, Casper entered boom town phase again. Since then, both oil and gas have remained pivotal to Casper’s wealth and development, down the decades and right through to the present times.

Economy:
Although not a mega city by American standards, Casper is a regional banking and commerce center. Thanks to the discovery of major oil fields Casper became a hot spot for refining oil, and has remained a hub for the energy sector in general including the new uranium fields discovered in recent decades.

Tourism:
Casper is a fun place to visit and it has come a long way since its days as a frontier outpost but make no mistake, the same sense of adventure and no inhibitions adds to the fun and excitement that are still there for the visitor to see and experience. With wild memories of the past and a keen eye on continued prosperity for this city, Casper is a year-round destination that offers something for everyone, be it culture, history, recreation or plain old entertainment. Perhaps you just want to rekindle your love of nature? Well, you can spend your day fishing for some real monster trout still found in abundant numbers in the historic North Platte River that challenged the pioneers to dare to venture where no American folk had ever been before. The Pony Express, Oregon, California and Mormon Trails are but a few of the trail-busting endeavors that our forefathers took on. Come and see for yourself, you certainly will not be disappointed!
