Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Moving to Tennessee
Tennessee is a beautiful state that stretches from the Appalachian Mountains in the eastern part of the state to the Mississippi River. With generally mild temps and gentle winters, Tennessee is a relaxing, peaceful place to call home. A paradise for gardeners, this welcoming state offers fertile soil, plenty of rain and an extended growing season. Tennessee is the perfect place to experience the ubiquitous hospitality that is synonymous with the south. Tennessee is one of the states seeing a steady growth of people adding to their overall population. Many people moving to Tennessee say that it took just one visit to the state to convince them to relocate. Sights located in Tennessee cities are unique and usually not to miss. Take The Lost Sea for example in Sweetwater, Tennessee. It is described in the Guinness Book of World Records as "America's Largest Underground Lake"-we hear it's an incredble sight on a boat. Another Tennessean attraction is the Great Smokey Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where you can see the expanse of South Appalachian history as well as a range of wildlife.

Capital City: Nashville is the state capital of Tennessee.

Population: Currently, 5.8 million people reside in Tennessee.

Local Activities: The second most visited house in the United States, Graceland, is located in Memphis, Tennessee and is preserved exactly as when Elvis Presley lived here-complete with the Jungle Room and shag carpeting. Next, check out the Tennessee Aquarium. It's the world's largest freshwater aquarium; this 12-story structure provides the unique opportunity to see birds, snakes, river otters and turtles in their natural habitats. The Great Smokey Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee is one of the country's most popular National Parks that covers over 500,000 acres of Tennessee and North Carolina and is home to over 4,000 species of plants. For avid hikers, the Smokey Mountains is the place to go with over 800 miles of hiking trails. While you are out there, we strongly advice you take a ride on the Gatlinburg Sky Lift. For over 0 years, families have been riding this double chairlift to the top of Crockett Mountain for unforgettable views of the Tennessee landscape. Open year round, this lift glides over the Little Pigeon River then climbs to an elevation of 1,800 feet.

Economy: Although Tennessee is now primarily an industrial-based economy, many Tennesseans still derive their livelihood from the land. The state's leading crops are cotton, soybeans, and tobacco; cattle, dairy products, and hogs are also principal farm commodities. Tennessee's leading mineral is stone, with zinc ranks a close second (Tennessee leads the nation in its production). Industry is continually diversifying. The state's leading manufactures are chemicals, foods, automobiles, electrical machinery, primary metals, textiles and apparel, stone, clay and glass items. Aluminum that was produced here since World War I remains an important commodity. Tennessee has long been a major tourist destination due largely to its beautiful scenery. Many of these lakes admired widely by visitors and locals were built by the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Army Corps of Engineers. Tennessee's famed music capitals like the the country-music Mecca of Nashville and the blues and jazz hub of Memphisencourages torism and helps aid the state's economy.

State Bird: The state bird is the mockingbird.

State Flower: The state flower is the iris.

State Song: "My Homeland Tennessee"

State Tree: The tulip poplar is the state tree of Tennessee.
