Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Warren, Ohio

Warren, Ohio is a classy city that is steeped in history and adorned with natural beauty and charming surroundings, not to mention its splendid public and commercial buildings. It really appeals to most people that visit it. In fact many visitors have been lured back as residents too, and long-term ones at that! If you are considering moving to Warren, then you should be speaking to one of our expert real estate agents first.

History:
After the Revolutionary War, Connecticut was extended by a 120-mile tract of land in Northeastern Ohio, and this annexure became known as the Connecticut Western Reserve. Then, in 1798, Ephraim Quinby bought 441 acres of land in this Reserve and named it after Moses Warren, Surveyor of the Western Reserve. The new town of Warren was laid out except for four acres that were set aside in the center of town for use as a Village Square. Today this is called Courthouse Park. In 1801, Warren became the Seat of Trumbull County, which at the time extended over the entire Connecticut Western Reserve. Thereafter, Warren prospered as the most favored of the cities in the region and gained status as the commercial, religious and social hub of the area (something not really accepted in certain circles in nearby Cleveland and Youngstown). The introduction of railroads to the region was delayed mainly due to existing canal and lake shipping already in operation. This curtailed Warren’s development as an industrial and manufacturing center, although it did preserve the pristine natural beauty of a town retained as County Seat despite other regional cities claiming to have more appeal.

Economy:
The local economy has evolved from a potent steel industry geared towards automobile production and parts manufacture. These days there are some new debutants adding a more diverse spread, and including light manufacturing, wholesale, retail and the service sector. Add new incentives like strategic research and development, and good inbound investment as well, and the future looks real good for Warren. The City works closely with the private sector as well as federal, state and regional agencies to improve local economic conditions in the community. Major employers include General Motors, Delphi Packard Systems, Youngstown Air Reserve Base, AVI Food Systems and WCI Steel. Standard & Poors’ maintain a “AAA” rating for the Warren economy.

Tourism:
When visiting the beautiful city of Warren you must allow sufficient time for the myriads of events and attractions. From the pristine rural ambience of the surrounding countryside to magnificent buildings - many with their original architecture perfectly preserved – there is something for everyone to enjoy and cherish. The National Packard Museum will immediately confirm the city of Warren’s proud association with the automobile as it takes the visitor back to more leisurely times when the limousine was just a statement of one’s wealth and status, and available only to a few privileged folk. And, as if to emphasize that this is no ordinary city, try visiting The Upton House which dates back to 1840, and is Warren’s oldest extant house.

Universities/Colleges:

Interesting Facts:

  • Warren is centrally located and conveniently accessible from Chicago, Cleveland, New York City and Pittsburg.
  • Astronaut Neil Armstrong took his first “giant step for mankind” when he boarded his first flight in Warren – the airplane was a Ford Tri-Motor with the dubious nickname “Tin Goose.” Neil was aged six at that time - did the experience perhaps inspire him to set out for the stars.
