Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

Camden, New Jersey

Camden, New Jersey is located in Camden County and lies on the banks of the Delaware River. Those moving to Camden will discover a city that is within close proxmity to Philadelphia, Pennsauken, Golden Triangle and Gloucester City.

Economy:
According to statistics released by the United States Census Bureau, Camden has a total land area of 10.4 square miles. The total population of the city, as at mid 2009, was 78,790, a marginal decrease since 2000 of 1.4 percent. 8,931 inhabitants live per square mile, thus the city is designated as being of high population density.

The nearest large city to Camden is Philadelphia, almost five miles away; while nearby cities and towns include Woodlynne, Collingswood, Oaklyn, Merchantville and Audubon Park Boroughs and Pennsauken, Golden Triangle and Gloucester City.

The Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and West Jersey Hospital attend to the community’s medical needs and Philadelphia International Airport provides air connections.

The Port of Camden is the largest employer of the residents of Camden. It comprises two terminals and handles bulk cargo for export and import; and is capable of handling many hundreds of ships each year.

The Campbell Soup Company has its headquarters in Camden and other large employers and contributors to the city’s economy are the City of Camden, Cooper University Hospital, the Delaware River Port Authority of Pennsylvania & New Jersey, L-3 Communications (formerly Lockheed Martin), Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Rutgers University-Camden.

Certain areas of the city are subject to a lower sales tax rate of 3.5% for being part of the Urban Enterprise Zone which was established to encourage employment in the city.

History:
The original European settlers of the area around Camden came from Holland and Sweden in 1626 and named their settlement Fort Nassau. More immigrants from Europe arrived during the 17th century and the City of Camden was incorporated in 1828.

Tourism:
The most popular tourist area in the city is its waterfront, on the banks of the Delaware River. Four wonderful attractions are located there – the Adventure Aquarium, the 25,000 seat Susquehanna Bank Center amphitheatre, the USS Battleship New Jersey Museum and the Campbell’s Field Baseball Park.
