Moving to New Jersey
If you're thinking of moving to New Jersey, you'll be relocating to one of the most interesting states in America. Turning on your T.V. or flipping through a magazine you can witness the world's fascination with the Garden State. Examples: "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," "Jersey Shore," "Garden State," "Cake Boss" and so much more. New Jersey offers a wide-range of settings including exciting urban, stunning beaches on the Jersey Shore and large sheets of rolling farmland. Before you start packing up your household and looking for New Jersey moving companies, take a moment to learn more about your future home.

As of 2009, more than 8.7 million people lived in New Jersey, which means a population density of 1,134 persons per square mile. Despite its dense population, the state is still a successful farmland that produces leading amounts of blueberries, peaches, cranberries, spinach and bell peppers. There are also many state parks that offer the wilderness of the Appalachian Mountains to the serenity of the Atlantic Ocean beaches. It's no wonder why so many people are moving cross-country to call New Jersey home.

Local Activities: If you've ever heard the classic Drifters song "Under the Boardwalk," you'll have a good understanding of New Jersey's most famous attraction-the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The renowned walk is a path along the Atlantic City public beach complete with arcades, carnivals, retail establishments and restaurants across from the beach. It's the perfect place to surf, swim, play volleyball, fly a kite, ride a carousel, take in a jazz band or dig into a plate of hot fried dough.

The city of Newark, New Jersey is often described as the "Urban Heart" of the state, and it boasts museums, concert halls and even a baseball stadium. Plan to visit Newark in the spring if possible, so that you can see the thousands of cherry blossoms that bloom in Branch Brook Park every year. For those that prefer the countryside, many of the farms in the state offer hayrides, apple-picking opportunities and other family-friendly activities. You could also reserve a camping place on one of New Jersey's seaside state parks.

Economy: As of 2008, some experts estimated that New Jersey had the highest population of millionaires in the U.S. In addition, the state has one of the highest per-capita incomes in the US (approximately $54,700 in 2008). The state's largest industry is the manufacture of pharmaceutical goods, particularly medication, and personal care products, encompassing shampoo and soap. Financial services, insurance services and commercial real estate are big industries in New Jersey.

State Bird: New Jersey's state bird is the goldfinch, a brilliantly-colored yellow bird with a fondness for sunflower seeds.

State Flower: The New Jersey state flower is the violet, which is an edible purple flower that blooms in spring.

State Dance: In 1983, the New Jersey legislature designated the square dance as the state dance.

State Nickname: New Jersey is known as The Garden State because it is home to more than 790,000 acres of farmland.
