Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

Bowling Green, Kentucky

The city of Bowling Green, Kentucky is the third largest city in Kentucky whose climate has hot and humid summers and relatively cold winters. Those moving to Bowling Green will also discover numerous opportunities and great schools.

Economy:
Bowling Green is the main city in the Bowling Green-Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. The nearest large city is Clarksville and nearby towns include Plum Springs, Woodburn, Gasper River, Oakland, Smiths Grove, Greencastle, Sugar Grove and Halfway.

Greenview Regional Hospital, The Medical Center, Mediplex Rehab Bowling Green and Rivendell Behavioral Health Services serve the community’s health needs; while Nashville International Airport, Louisville International Airport, Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport, Falin Landing Strip Airport, Plane-O-Field Airport, Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport and Evansville Regional Airport provide air connections for the city.

The Cost of Living Index for Bowling Green as at January 2011 was 89 points, considerably less than the national average for the United States of 100 points. Unemployment figures released in December 2010 were Bowling Green 8 percent, and 10 percent for the state of Kentucky.

One of the main drivers of the economy in Bowling Green is General Motors, which has been producing all its Chevrolet Corvettes in the city since 1981. Other major contributors are the Commonwealth Health Corporation, the Warren County Board of Education and Western Kentucky University. Bowling Green is also a medical hub for the Kentucky Metropolitan area. Manufacturing enterprises, such as Fruit of the Loom, Holley Performance Products, Houchens Industries and Camping World add to the city’s coffers.

History:
The settlement of Bowling Green was established in 1798, but it did not prosper until the growth of steamboat commerce on the Barren River began; and railway links which were first connected to the settlement in 1832 continued the trend. Bowling Green was incorporated as a city in December 1810.

Tourism:
General Motors plays a huge part in the modern culture of Bowling Green and, in its honor, the city plays host to the National Corvette Homecoming each year (and has done since 1981). The National Corvette Museum was opened in 1994 and is located near the General Motors plant.

Other sites of note in the city are the Barren River Imaginative Museum of Science, the Historic Railpark and Train Museum and the historic home Riverview at Hobson Grove.
