Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Overland Park, Kansas

The official inscription on the Coat of Arms of Overland Park reads: “Above and Beyond. By Design” and this accurately describes the city both in terms of humble origins, and ambitious, but controlled planning throughout the decades. Take for example the Arboretum Botanical Gardens and Exhibits, a wonderful tourist attraction well worth visiting any time of the year. When moving to Overland Park, Kansas you will find life and living a pleasure and a joy as you store fond images of this wonderland in your mind.

Economy:
Overland Park, Kansas, is in high esteem for its percentage of degreed citizens. Fortune 100 Company Sprint Nextel Corporation have their International Headquarters in the City and employ more than 18,000 local residents. The Corporate Woods Business Park which first opened in the 1970s has expanded steadily over the years and now offers a total capacity of 3,200,00 square feet. Overland Park is also home to a number of Fortune 500 companies, including YRC Worldwide, Waddell & Reed and Compass Minerals, to mention but a few. The education sector in the district employs several thousand people and remains an important contributor to the local economy as well.

History:
The city of Overland Park came into being back in 1905 when its founder William B. Strang Jr. arrived in the area to plot 2.4 square kilometers of sub divisions along an existing military roadway. One of these sub divisions was “Overland Park.” This became the site of the landing of the first aircraft west of the Mississippi on Christmas Eve 1909, when the Wright Brothers landed their fabulous “air machine” there thanks to sponsorship by William Strang himself. Strang had a vision of a well planned “park-like” community with strong commercial acumen, good transportation networks and quality education for its citizens, all making it an attractive place to live and invest. He died in 1921 but was proud to have been closely associated with the establishment of a new town. Incredibly, incorporation of Overland Park only came about in 1960 -  developments since this mile-stone event have been rapid, but controlled so as to protect the natural environment too. Today, Overland Park is the second most populous city in Kansas.

Tourism:
Perhaps you are considering moving to Overland Park, or maybe just a visit is what you have in mind. No matter, bring the kids with you, as there is so much to see and do in this beautiful City. Treat the younger members of your family to a day out in the Children’s Discovery Garden. Let then figure out the grass maze and then run through the shrinking tunnel. Take in the electric atmosphere at the Lakeside Amphitheatre. Then there is the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead too, with close to 200 animals and birds housed in a mock turn-of-the- 20th century family farm. Apart from many attractive public parks there are plenty of other great attractions worth finding the time to see. From museums to historic sites, Overland Park has them in abundance. If you have visited this fine city before then it should come as no surprise that Overland Park has consistently ranked among the Top 10 CNN Money and Money Magazine’s Best 100 Cities to live in the United States.
