Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Lawrenceville, Georgia

Bursting with old-fashioned, Southern hospitality and hometown charm, Lawrenceville, Georgia is a pulsating city, with amenities to suit today’s diverse lifestyles, interests and necessities. From the city’s state-of-the-art medical, educational and governmental facilities, to flourishing business and recreational opportunities, Lawrenceville operates as home to individuals and families from around the globe.  The city’s close proximity to Atlanta is a convenience, however, residents will find all that they desire when moving to Lawrenceville.

History:
Incorporated in 1821, Lawrenceville, Georgia is the second oldest city in the Atlanta area. Early on, most residents farmed cotton, or at least benefited from the booming industry. One of the first cotton factories, Lawrenceville Manufacturing Company, made goods for the Confederates. When it burned during the Civil War, another was quickly built to replace it. Corn, lumber, brick and livestock also fueled the city’s economy. Then, for the late 1800s through the turn of the century, a well-timed railroad helped move people and freight all the way to the eastern seaboard and established Lawrenceville as a vital transportation center. Most of the population, however, still got around by mule until the first paved road appeared in the city in the late 1920s. Evident in the city’s extensive revitalization beginning in 2005, the city preserves respect for the past while energetically embracing the future. Among the downtown district’s buildings and landmarks are the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse (voted among the top 30 places in the country to have a wedding) and the Lawrenceville Female Seminary. With new shopping, dining and entertainment all within proximity, redevelopment make it possible to live, work and play within walking distance.

Economy:
Broadly recognized as an industry hub of North Georgia, Lawrenceville is home to Gwinnett County's Briscoe Field, the third largest airport in the state and an important corporate center; and, the city’s easy access to a number of highways further assists transportation. Historically, Lawrenceville became a hub of activity as the county seat of Gwinnett and transportation axis with its early railroad. Today, progressive city leadership and actively engaged citizens continue to encourage redevelopment while making the city a place that appeals to enterprising businesses, organizations, professionals, and families. Creating a full range of opportunities and experiences, Lawrenceville has attracted Gwinnett Medical Center, the Aurora Theater, the Gwinnett Braves Minor League Baseball Team and Discover Mills, to name a few. Georgia Gwinnett College and Gwinnett Technical College are accustomed to satisfying the immediate and future needs of employers through higher education. To accommodate shifting lifestyles, the city has rejuvenated its downtown area with an assortment of locally owned shops and restaurants, professional offices and upscale residential development.  Southern hospitality remains steady in light of a universal presence in the business, educational and cultural arenas. With all of these exciting job opportunities, it's no wonder why Lawrenceville moving companies are so busy.

Tourism:
The city offers a wealth of activities, entertainment, dining and shopping for all ages and interests. For those who enjoy bargain shopping, Discover Mills, a local outlet mall, features discount stores of high-end retailers and manufacturers. Under the same roof are an 18-show movie theater, Medieval Times, family bowling and more. Preserving the nostalgic character of the city are antique shops, one-of-a-kind boutiques and a full menu of restaurants. Next, head over to the Aurora Theatre. Located on the downtown Historic Courthouse Square, the Aurora Theatre produces live professional performances from Shakespearean plays to musicals and children’s theatre. The Aurora also offers children’s educational programs that have earned national recognition. Finally, check out a “Concerts on the Courthouse lawn.” They are free to the public and popular in the spring and summer months. The Gwinnett Braves Minor League Baseball Team and stadium enhance the hometown spirit with enthusiastic local crowds. The team’s state-of-the-art stadium offers every type of seating from blankets on the lawn to luxury boxes.
