Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Macon, Georgia

Macon, Georgia is a unique city where culture, commerce and community thrive. Nestled on the Fall Line where the Piedmont plateau meets the flat Coastal Plains, the area has long been a perfect moving destination. The city possesses a community spirit that will be particularly evident during relocation. Macon is a city that will make you feel welcome and at home. Located in the center of the State, Macon is also the economic engine of Central Georgia. The city continues it work toward expanding the industrial economy, where considerable growth is predicted in the near future.

History:
During the Civil War, Macon served as a hospital for wounded confederates, and a prison for union soldiers. After World War I, Macon experienced a growth spurt due to crop failure, boll weevil and a drought. Moreover, there was a feeling of safety in the city for black families that had lived in rural central Georgia. For two years, in the mid 1920s, the Huff Daland Dusters operated in Macon. During the 1950s, Macon began to produce and attract a number of musicians with unusual musical talent. Among the names closely associated with the city are Leana Horne, Otis Redding, James Brown and "Little Richard.” It was only appropriate that the Georgia Music Hall of Fame be built in a city that had such a widespread effect on music in America. Macon, along with much of central and western Georgia, took hurricane Alberto head on, in 1994. This caused the city's water treatment plant on the banks of the Ocmulgee River to flood; more than 160,000 people went for up to 19 days without treated water. Today, the city has fully recovered as evident from the busy Macon moving companies that continue to bring in new residents.
